I still find airplane a good laugh, especially Lloyd Bridges and Leslie Nielsen but it's nothing crazy special, ultimately it's just a bit of silly fun. The main pull is that it's more about the frequency of jokes than anything, with some still managing to surprise me even now - that I hadnt noticed before.
It's 70s feel, light hearted touch and the fact you know what jokes are coming after your first viewing, makes it one of those films…
