  We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.

  What a classic movie, and much weirder than I remember it being. The Oompa Loompas are so sinister. This also reminded me that the Broadway musical was so good and needs to be filmed properly.

  Anyway, this is a story about how a wealthy businessman (Wonka) closed his factory and outsourced labor (Oompa Loompas), leading to the decimation of his local community (Grandpa Joe). Incredible stuff.

  Johnathan Bailey has chemistry with all of Oz. Cynthia Erivo is the perfect Elphaba. Ariana Grande personified Glinda beautifully. I totally didn’t tear up at the Idina Menzel/Kristin Chenoweth cameo.

  The musical numbers were great, the cast was incredible, the costumes were fun, the practical effects were great, the sets were gorgeous, and they ruined it all with weird lighting and grading and funky CGI. I wanted this to be brighter and to emulate the Wizard of Oz, classic technicolor,…
