A beautiful film and hard to watch at times too for good reason. This is thought provoking and emotional. It shows the power of the human spirit and human connection. Powerful.

I will watch this film over and over. It would be a film I would take on a desert island. I loved the reality check of the end. The bitter sweetness. I really didn’t like that on the first watch but having seen it over the years I love all the nuances, the happy ending in a different way, the acknowledgment of relationships and life turns and dreams. Incredible film.

The Boys in the Boat 2023
A wonderful film focussed on the classic underdog story. With Clooney’s strong storytelling sensibilities and acting background, he focussed on one goal, key characters and building relationships that we as an audience root for. We can all relate to this and we are right there with the characters. Being immersed by the character arcs individually and as a team dynamic, excellent cinematography, impactful editing and world building. I found greatest impact in the quiet moments where you see characters evolve. Simple, beautiful and everything good in cinema. It’s true that story is king and this film was a gorgeous reminder. A favourite of 2024 already.
