interesting concept for a story and rob pats gave a solid performance! generally entertaining sci-fi movie. i think it would have benefited from having it’s own distinct voice though, rather than using super direct and not at all subtle references to current/recent events
i know everyone says that the sequels are better and have cooler stunts etc. but if you look at this movie on its own, i thought it was actually pretty solid.
i like the spy espionage twists and turns, and that ethan was a bit mentally unstable. i love the trope of over-explaining how securely guarded and impossible the mission is, and then one guy coming along and showing just how possible it turns out to be lmao
i could comment on TC working that harmonica but in an effort to clean up my letterboxd reputation i’ll refrain and say this movie was good but nothing mind blowing.
the focus on his musical talent was cool but all the stuff about his personal life was mildly confusing. i feel like his story is actually more interesting than the parts they portrayed, but still i never felt like checking my watch so the movie did its job entertainment-wise
A very cool experience; I liked the visual style, especially with the contrast between the black-and-white, cool tones, clean chrome of the Harkonnens versus the bright, soft, messy neutral tones of the Fremen/Arrakis. It was a shock to the retinas every time they switched between them.
Feyd-Rautha was a good villain, deranged, but so fucking bald though? Not even a lick of peach fuzz to be found. Especially in contrast to Paul's next-level desert-swept flow, he is just so, so.......…
