Could have definitely done with another hour to flesh out these characters, but the style and the story it did at least attempt to tell was so striking in the hour that it did have.
The style that this film imparts on its characters really amplify how they feel, but, strangely for me, this is really strongest when its drawing characters at their most haunted.
This film has a strange v i b e at times that prevents me from putting it any higher, but I just really like the world and writing that Baker delivers as it is, of course helped by the strong performances by Madison and Borisov.
On another note I just kind of like Borisov's acting instruction that was evidentally 'just be kind of confused at everything that is going on' which frankly so true Mr Baker
Personally, I was quite enjoying this film up until the intermission, it was mostly a pretty 'character study' if you could call it that with flavours of questionable architecture in the background with characters who at least you could get the idea about.
Then the film's main flaw rears its head the moment the clock counts down from the intermission timer, and that is Brady Corbet's seeming obsession with wanting to be 50 different directors at once. There are so…
Nothing beats the fact that this documentary rightfully implies throughout that the musicians collective hatred for Schlager music birthed music encouraged them to throw away their turntables and buy guitars....and cement mixers...
