I watched octoroxx's fanedit of this movie: ifdb.fanedit.org/star-wars-attack-of-the-clones-sanded-down/
The edit does a good job of making the romance more plausible. There's still nothing that can really be done about Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship which is basically non-existant. It's a deeply flawed movie that the edit manages to bring back from the brink.

It's better than the original version, and the zanier elements are thankfully absent, but it still has a lot of the same story problems. Apollo's death is empty, and the vengeance angle doesn't really work in a sports series that's always been about fighting for respect.
