Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert

    ★★★★½

As close to the Hans Zimmer Live concert as you can get on a screen. The trade off in giving up the energy of being there is that you get a much better view.

As is the case for many, Hans Zimmer’s music has been in the background my entire life. And there’s something truly powerful about the artistry and community involved in telling stories, conveying emotion through music.

Keep doing it for me and Doris, Hans

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

    ★★★★

Looney Tunes has the potential to remain eternally relevant, something Ketchup Entertainment understands far better than Warner Brothers as of late. These characters don’t need reboots to stay fresh, they do so ironically by sticking with what has made them appealing for nearly a century. And The Day the Earth Blew Up does this very well. While the setting and references reflect the present day, the characters and sense of humor have proven timeless. Most importantly this feels like Looney Tunes.

A genuinely touching story of moving on from grief and the courage that comes from the companionship and unconditional love of a dog. And what a beautiful final performance for Ed Asner as Carl.

    Strange World

    ★★★★

Strange World gave me the same feeling I got watching Atlantis and Treasure Planet. And, had I been the same age I was when I first saw those movies, I would’ve put it right up there with them among films that inspire awe, hope for a better world, and adventure. It fits right into that very specific genre I love so much comprised of retrotech expeditions into a wondrous uncharted place.

I’m also of an age now primed to relate…
