  The ending and the entire last third is a bit of a letdown, but that Boards of Canada needle drop is absolutely amazing. Great sound design and soundtrack.

  This all felt quite jumbled. The film attempts to be very Lynchian in its portrayal of the horrors and the dark underside of suburbia (with the numerous references to a "downstairs" and "underneath") and its so-called perfect families, but in this case, rather than going with, for example, Blue Velvet's (to which there are a couple visual references at the start of the film) 50s-60s American setting, Perkins uses the 90s with their accompanying satanic panic as the backdrop.
