Crumb 1994
Crumb is a look at the stark comparison of outcomes between 3 brothers desperately longing for acknowledgment and love from their brutal and disappointed late father.
All three seem unapologetically blunt and hyper self aware of their character flaws, yet somehow unable to remedy them. Robert’s success and fame allowed him to live a relatively well-adjusted life, while his brothers face the opposite, even though they all suffer from the same repressed upbringing.
I feel like we only scratched the surface of Robert Crumb’s genius, and are shown how his twisted outlook is all too normal.

Synecdoche, New York 2008
Beautifully confusing. A self referential journey captured through the work of a theater director who builds a world around himself, since he can't control his own real one.
