Adolescence 2025
Pretty damn spectacular. Any and all members of crew and cast on this film deserve a heavy round of applause.
From a filmmaking perspective, this trumps virtually anything I’ve ever seen before on television. Blocking these intricate mazes of sets from episode to episode. It genuinely staggers me that everything was done from start to finish without stopping.
This series reinvents having the ‘1 take gimmick’ and owns it in every single second. Not a single moment allowed for breathing…

Lord knows where Hanks’ Oscar nom was for this film.
An incredibly tactile and grounded production from Paul Greengrass. A very rare instance where you forget you’re actually watching a film as things seamlessly blend into a documentary-like format.
White knuckled the entire way through and it concludes with such a satisfying emotional punch it makes rewatching the film again all the more worth it.
Very underrated.

SUCH WASTED POTENTIAL
For the first half, the film genuinely had me. Though in excess, the musical numbers were kinda cool, surreal and fit the jokers twisted romanticised relationship with Harley.
However the second half, COMPLETELY undoes anything the first half (or even the first film for that matter) set up. It’s a film that sparks an ideas that never leave the kindling phase, only to be spat on by the end, leading to an incredibly unsatisfying conclusion.

Best film of the year so far.
The film is as much about tennis as whiplash is about drumming. Loved the obsessive sub-theme underneath a very engaging love triangle.
Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Co. Cooked a fantastic, mayhem-fuelled soundtrack which fit the aesthetic to a T.
Luca Guadagnino is officially one of the new greats. Can’t wait to see what else he does for films current generation.
