    Martin Scorsese’s magnum opus.

The Irishman is the greatest work from one of the greatest directors cinema has ever seen.

To get the obvious out of the way, the de-ageing effects used are questionable. Whether it be the shaky lip movements or Scorsese’s constant collaborator De Niro’s eyes being a neon blue worthy of a blade runner movie, there is work to be done here. That being said after a few scenes the effects seem to settle and become unnoticeable,…

    I’ve done questionable things

Ridley Scott’s land mark sci-fi film set in a dystopian future scarily similar to our own. High level production, great longevity and it’s ability to provoke thought, make this a special film remarkable for its time and ours.

1982 saw Blade Runners  theatrical release which was not the true vision of Ridley Scott so as to make sure I watched the very best version of Blade Runner I sought the 2007 Final Cut Edition. Although I…

    Cinema - 35th anniversary.

I think this might be the film.

There is just so much of it that is executed at a level above almost anything else, such extreme talent all melting away in the crucible of cinema.

I swear it’s the fastest 3 hour film ever, I adore it.

Star by name, star by nature.

A star is born achieves everything it sets to do and more. Upon watching this initially I expected a typical romantic film that blasts through cinemas for gathering a cool 500m dollars until the next clone comes around. Bradley Coopers A Star Is Born however surpasses all pre conceptions I had with a wonderful entanglement of talent, love, substance abuse and more.

The narrative this film drives stars Bradley Cooper playing musical superstar Jackson…

    Witchcraft

Having never seen The Witch or The Lighthouse I have always been curious about Robert Eggers work having seen the acclaim he’s been getting. I never had a real reason for not watching The Witch sooner, other than not being a fan of horrors because of the cliches they all seem to have, I was hoping Eggers could change my perception of them.

From the 5 stars  I’ve given this film, it’s fair to say he did just that.

    Immediately it’s…
