A perfect example that every major movie and tv production being released(atleast) in the last five years is more concerned with spewing humanist propaganda then actually telling a story.
We get it, everyone from the country south is every -phobe in the book while the young idealistic individualistic autonomous realtivists are the beacon of all that is moral(yes that is a contradiction).
The down-fall of horror, thrillers or more specifically in this case, home-invasion films, are actions that are unrealistic. It takes you right out of the experience leaving you wondering or joking "why did they do that?". Haneke is not stupid here. He doesn't try and get away with victims making obviously unwise choices. He carefully figures out how and why all the characters choose to do what they do. That makes an incredible difference.
