Oozing with heart-warming sincerity, 'Marcel' is additionally a marvelous display of animation prowess!

Looses a bit of poignancy upon a second watch but maintains its tameless appeal to humanity.

The film dedicates an entire section to the 1994 Crime Bill, yet there is no mention of Joe Biden's name during the entire runtime. Yes, Clinton should be held accountable for the legislation he signed, but omitting the bill's principal author is concerning. Likewise, a portion of the film is dedicated to the war on drugs and its consequences, yet no argument for narcotic legalization or even decriminalization is mentioned throughout the film. Cannabis decriminalization is not brought up once. For these reasons, the film lost all credibility to me in the first act. Important, deeply troubling and topical subject matter, superficial presentation.

I enjoyed Licorice Pizza, but I think the early 70s era, love letter to LA, meandering hangout film featuring fictional and real-life characters with a slew of fun cameos and esoteric cultural references, as well as wall to wall needle drops of songs from the time period, shot on film by American auteurs was done better by Tarantino.
