Goes through the typical motions. Needed more to make it shine, but skirts around enough interesting ideas to save it from being wholly forgettable.

I did really enjoy the color palette 👌🏽

Can’t get over how impeccably realized this whole project is.

So well written. Flawlessly acted across the board. A dazzling kaleidoscope of exemplary character dynamics brought to life by a wonderfully fleshed out ensemble, backed by a genuinely fun plot with damn near perfect pacing.

Deserves all 5 of those Oscars. Nothing against The Brutalist of course, but I’m really glad this film took home Best Picture.

Fun, unabashedly in-your-face social satire. Themes of colonialism, humanity, and (surprise!) capitalism are well explored here, even if no one aspect is provided with the full breathing room needed to serve as a thorough examination.

The man has a talent for flipping certain genre conventions on their head while unapologetically leaning into the tropes of some others. Gotta respect that kind of direction.

Denis Villeneuve has always been something of a polarizing director amongst audiences -- his slow, methodical approach to creating atmosphere within his thematically cerebral films has always either alienated or immersed them. Even those who concede that the grand, sweeping visuals and the spectacular wide shots that command space and depth within the frame are truly marvelous to behold, argue that such distinct style comes at the expense of plotting and pacing -- and while I of course love this…
