overall felt very...underdeveloped? it was pretty wide-ranging in the topics covered for it being a post one-night-stand story, but I think there's a way to make all the issues of race and gentrification cohesive, natural, and meaningful even within that context, I just don't think this film does it... it kinda just touches on them sporadically throughout. oh and i was NOT fucking with the sepia :/
BUT! there are some moments that feel so intimate and tender and it's cool to see how that carries over into Jenkins's later films like Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk
