I don't think I have ever felt this scared by a film before.
There are a couple things here which I believe made it so effective on me.The fact that you are watching a documentary which doesn't seem to be entirely aware of it contains. The narrative that the film conveys on the surface, the intended reading, is that of a family befallen by mysterious plight and possibly paranormal events, portrayed in a way that feels kind of pandering…
