TLDR: this film never had a chance once the screenplay was adapted and the casting was finished.

This has to be in the top 5 worst film adaptations of all time. The book was good, cute, genuine and a little corny. This was god fucking awful. They changed or even completely eliminated so many major details (I.e. major characters, relationships, plot points). A limited series would have served this story so much better. The casting just failed at every turn.…
