If Shadow is the bad guy (momentarily)? Why so cute?
Good movie. Storyline was solid with very little gaps, I enjoyed the fight scenes. At some point I thought that Director Rockwell was a villain? She gave off ‘pretending to be the good guy but has ulterior motives’ vibes but I appeared to be wrong. Perhaps I’m just too cynical for a children’s movie. There were some cringe moments (for me) but again, it’s a children’s movie so it’s expected.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s poured their all into the film and it truly paid off because the movie was amazing. You can tell how the role of Elphaba and her relationship with her world and Galinda, resonated with Cynthia and Ariana. The cast were all amazing, they gave us entertainment, humour and amazing musical performances.
A lot of people beforehand noted about the colour grading but for me, it wasn’t a personal issue. Perhaps because I’ve grown used to…

The movie wasn’t bad but it wasn’t really good either. I left the movie having zero emotions about it. With no post credit scene, there wasn’t really a saving grace of the movie. I liked the characters but the movie felt bland. There wasn’t any proper character background explanation, everything felt short and rushed. A lot of things happened where I thought “I don’t think so and so would be likely to do this given what we’ve seen”
I want filmmakers of superhero movies to step back and ask themselves what makes great storytelling and apply that to the movies.
