  Exactly as it was, everything kept under wraps, ignored and never addressed. The collective complacency, apathy and catholic guilt loomed over 20th century Irish society. 

  I didn’t learn about The Magdalene Laundries until I was maybe 17, I heard my mother speak of vague “catholic church abuses” throughout my childhood, never truly understanding the extent to which this manifested.

  The very lack of acknowledgement of the abuses happening not only in my grandmothers lifetime but also my mothers says enough…
