Sometimes a family can a lesbian wife, her doctor girlfriend, her gay husband, his lawyer boyfriend, and a baby.
In all seriousness this is very easily became one of my favorite rom-com movies. The characters are believable and they're being treated as a character first with flaws and wants instead of a walking dictionary for their identities. I know the thing about the family won't satisfy everyone but for me, it's the most realistic possibilities I could relate to.
And as closeted Asian person, this and The Half of It speaks to me more than any white queer movies I've ever watched.
