I haven't understood a movie less since Isle of Dogs. I have no idea why this exists or who it is meant to appeal to, and I don't get the reasoning behind any decisions made about it. Noah Baumbach has created far more characters that I relate to than any other director, which isn't good, because most of his characters are depressed assholes.
My word. What a beautiful, brilliant movie. This is unlike anything that I've seen before. I'll probably never see anything like this again. Just about everything, if not absolutely everything, worked out.
The acting is fantastic. Joaquin Phoenix is very sympathetic as Theodore. He really gets across the sadness, anger and joy that he feels depending on the scene. Amy Adams is also great in her supporting role as Theodore's friend Amy. To be honest, I think it's this role…
