The songs are catchy-ish, the costumes are one part renaissance, two parts "I found this on Depop." The dwarves... let’s just say the casting director went wild on the AI character generator. I feel as though Disney just went “Why not?” instead of, “Should we?” And honestly? That’s kinda the charm of it all.

Zoe Saldana lends a captivating portrayal of Rita, despite being a terribly underwritten character. I found myself wondering through this film if Rita really was the protagonist in this story. It feels as if she is through the first 30 minutes, until Emilia’s transition, where I really struggled to understand Rita’s relevance to the remaining hour…
