just delicious, like if you mashed up a Shakespearean comedy of errors, Anne of Green Gables, and an Ealing film but without the aggressive Englishness -- having two Europeans involved in the making gave it this anti-Empire sensibility throughout that was so unexpected and refreshing (and funny).

god i love me a 'depressed secret genius from the arse end of nowhere turns criminal' plot. give me anna delvey, richard papen. but oh then it's filmed in luminous b&w and the camera is gay for these delicious flatlays of 60s desk drawer paraphernalia like altoid tins and stamped envelopes and BEAUTIFUL NIBBED PENS - things that fold and click and crinkle. OBJETS! you know! bonus points for featuring johnny flynn in his true form, anodyne soft boy.
