Although I agree this film was about 45 minutes too long (30 of those minutes being the end), i liked the message that i interpreted from this film, and even appreciated the discomfort. Yes, old white men run everything and dismiss older women completely. Yes, the standards of beauty are completely unreasonable and unattainable. Yes, we all know both of these things already. One of my favorite movies about two people who teach each other how to live and love. So many wonderful lines. If you weren’t already looking at the beautiful landscape of Kenya, you would be transported there by Karen’s descriptions of it. Begs the question do you have to become someone else to love someone else?
