Laura 1955
Maybe it's important, especially at these times to come back to the realist visual compositions to story telling. These old neo noirs such as this film experiment with sight and sound that attempts to adhere to how we actually experience emotions. Why would a man fall in love with a dead woman, and how? Watch it, it's remarkable how the story goes and then takes a risk in the mystery.

Hangover Square 1945
Probably one The best films I've ever seen. A portrait of what it means to be an artist and the example of searching for what is one's ambition. Here ambitious motives are not fame, in the end what might unravel as madness is actually admitting one's obsession was the true nature of ambition, not the muse, the fame or power, but the work itself. It's a fantastic film that is a must for filmmakers to watch.
