I have no words (I could talk for hours) no words (I want to get a PhD in this movie)

    The Cabin in the Woods

    ★★★★½

A self-aware movie that parodies the horror genre, The Cabin in the Woods offers gore, humor, and nuance. At its core, the film interrogates how the horror movie industry has turned victimhood into its own state of monstrosity.

  • Bones and All

    Bones and All

    ★★★½

Bones and All is a road trip/coming of age/romance/cannibal movie. It sounds like a lot to pack into 2 hours, but the film is remarkably sparse (small cast, pared down plot, etc.) The metaphors -- to love another person is to consume them, sexuality is a kind of hunger, desire often breeds violence, etc.-- are captivating and well-executed. In terms of horror or character development, the film falls a little bit short, which is frustrating considering it's a character-driven horror film. The cinematography does an excellent job capturing the loneliness of the country in America and feeling of first lobe.
