If this movie were made 15 years earlier Jake Gyllenhaal would be the lead. Bong Joon Ho's signature quirkiness felt scaled back but still present. Overall a very enjoyable an entertaining movie that I'll %100 watch again.

Toni Collette's character kind of undermines the critique that is Mark Ruffalo's character and dulls the teeth that are present in their real life counterparts. Also, I feel like she was trying to be Tilda Swinton, or that maybe Tilda Swinton should have been in the role, but that's probably due to writing.

11 movies in and they haven't skipped a beat yet.

I liked the scenery and the use of fog on set. The oceanside setting worked well with many of the themes. Although the film overall was more upbeat, thematically, it was one of the darker films. There was a lot of Nihilism and hopelessness running through this one, and as always it's balanced out with Ichi's charming sarcasm and devotion to helping people. None of the people he helps are super great though.

I saw this. That's feat unto itself. Here's the secret. Go to a subtitle file host site and find the subtitle. Look at the file name. Google it. And you'll find yourself on some Chinese websites. That's where to get the better quality versions.

Or you could use the internetarchive for a VHS rip.

But the movie. I've seen exactly two movies by Hiroyuki Nakano and I love both of them. Why go clubbing or raving when you could watch…

How random was it that they folded Mogura into the Godzilla verse?

The human element was absolutely weak and I hated it. SpaceGodzilla is bad ass and his reasoning for existing is awesome. The exposition dump meeting where they explain his origins had me laughing because that lady went into great detail about his creation then ended the whole thing with, "that's the ongoing theory".

The fight scenes were some of the most beautiful and well shot in the entire franchise and for the the special effects landed pretty well.
