Rear Window 1954
what an ingenious way to frame a story. so interesting to watch during the stagnancy of the pandemic. it’s fascinating to imagine what you could notice — witness — just by paying attention. everyone lives as complex of a life as yours if you just look around to see. (also, grace kelly is unreal)

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 1971
even more surreal than i remember from when i watched it as a little kid. but i love it. willy wonka is such an interesting character. i think he seems more sinister to me now than he did when i was little, but the world he creates is magical and nonsensical. he's like a very ambitious cheshire cat. i need to rewatch the other renditions of his character.

A Complete Unknown 2024
very beautiful! i really like how they framed the story by focusing on dylan’s musical shift and live performances. i feel like many biopics i’ve seen have tried to narratively bite off more than they can chew, and as a result have felt sporadic or lacking of a takeaway. this was the opposite. i thought timmy was amazing. and elle fanning is perfect.
