  A class struggle allegory with gossiping cats and a shy loser guy and also the best movie about journalism ever. Annie MG Schmidt is such a genius for making the idea that power corrupts understandable for kids (when she didn’t even like kids..) by making it all take place in the microcosm of a fictional dutch town where everyone is just archetypal role and just interesting fleshed out character enough. Love it so much
