A script with all the gimmicky pretentiousness of the Nolan brothers and all the goofy twists you'd expect from Shyamalan's lesser work, filmed with all the visual flair of a late 90s straight to video thriller.

Most brilliant German screenplay in ages (actually felt downright, uhm, Danish), tightly thrilling direction, a shining lead and a thoroughly believable ensemble, especially the many convincing child performers that never fall into the common trappings of cute kid acting, make this an almost perfect feature. The ending left me somewhat frustrated, but maybe that only makes sense in a film that portrays brave, but seemingly futile idealism in a social machinery that pits faculty, students and parents against each other. Highly recommended watch.
