i LOVED this, every character was absolutely unhinged in their own special way. penelope cruz is never endingly amazing, so entertaining and hilarious to watch. pretentious old man vs conceited middle aged man.. just an overall masterclass in satirizing the world of cinema and just fine art in general. honorable mention to antonio banderas whose range always impresses me

probably my least favorite sean baker movie, mostly because i felt a little let down by anora as a character. i thought it was visually extremely well done (something i can always give baker credit for) and i liked the improvisational feel of many scenes. i still found it interesting and enjoyable, but it doesn’t compare to his other work.
