The rabbits usually don’t react to anything on our tv but this movies freaked them out. Probably all the dog barking but I like to think they understood the awesome destructive power and beauty contained in nature.

I love Eggers’ attention to period detail and treatment of historical subjects as truly from a different world as always. I think this movie has some true moments of brilliance.
However, I think he’s too much of a fan of the Murnau film for his own good. The reverence this movie shows to the original limits it from innovating beyond a slight expansion of the female roles.
I was also surprised at how blatant this movie was with its themes.…
