Insidious 2010
This movie is just the right amount of story, atmosphere, and jumpscare. With dynamic cinematography that helps build tension, and a textbook use of dissonant strings, insidious has a deliciously eerie feel which I really like in a horror film. Coupling that feel with a interesting story, it really is a well balanced movie for any horror fan.
I have rewatched it three times now and always pick up on new details I didn't see before.

The Nightmare Before Christmas 1993
Obviously a Tim Burton classic, which has a cult following for a reason. Beautiful claymation, with a distinct and nostalgia filled score. A prefect light movie for spooky season. You watch it to feel good, not for the plot.
