The Last Samurai 2003
I hadn’t seen this movie in 4-5 years, so figured it was time to rewatch. Not quite as good as I remember (and my threshold for violence has gone wayyyy down), but there are definitely elements I love. The score is incredible, the themes of honor, tradition, and loyalty still resonate, and the character growth is satisfying to watch. Deep stuff aside, this movie has two of my favorite things - Tom Cruise and swords. A little sad that it didn’t resonate as much as it did when I was younger, but still a favorite.
