A big shiny egg without the yolk.
As a concept the movie deals with the issue of ageism and a woman’s struggle with her own self worth based on society’s ruthless expectations through the lens of the male gaze in a compelling manner. Theoretically speaking the genre satirical horror is a good choice, however the execution of it fell short. Overall the execution of the concept is my main criticism. Uglies 2024
The storyline of the movie was completely rushed which made it absolutely impossible to create any kind of character depth. The characters felt cheesy, bland and one-dimensional. In addition, the world created in the movie was equally as rushed so the audience cannot create a real sense of connection to the place. The only positive thing about the movie is the choice of color scheme in the world of the pretties.
