  Mickey 17 is your typical Bong Joon-ho societal commentary that is also whimsical, funny, and utterly chaotic.

  And that’s the kicker: the film gets so lost in the madness that by the end of the film you start to question its motives. 

  Still enjoyable, though.

  A Very Good Girl 2023

  Despite its flaws on story structure (50/50 on that ending) and the themes it wants to convey, A Very Good Girl is a right step forward for big studio outfits like Star Cinema to go explore newer genres.

  The film is energetic and unhinged, especially for a mainstream Pinoy film. The film is, of course, fueled by the fantastic performances of Kathryn Bernardo (who is proving her acting flexibility) and Dolly de Leon (who is showcasing her acting creds to the public movie goers).

  Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea 2023

  My only gripe with this episode is its pacing and how it is stretched too much. 

  But Beyond The Sea is a macabre story of loss and isolation, coupled with terrific performances from its leads. Plus, its ending, despite the predictability, will have you in pieces.
