Speak No Evil 2024
Did a great job of inducing anxiety throughout. My hackles were up almost the entire movie. Can’t give it a 5 because some of the dumb shit the family did was so frustrating. For a mom who was presented as being over-attentive and over-careful she really threw all that out the window at some points like, I dunno, leaving your 11 year old at home with a strange babysitter you’ve never met? Also the bunny was the enemy within this whole movie. The moral of the story is don’t let your kids have security blankets once they hit double digits in age?

Honestly haven’t had my heart pounding this fast for a horror movie in a long time. Really enjoyed the innocuous yet suspenseful nature imagery, followed by modern SFX through unsettling gore. The kills were over the top but gave a peek behind the madness of an undead psychopath. Too many horror monsters have logical motives or make sensible decisions. Johnny was a great example of how a resurrected killer would act: chaotic, senseless, and untiringly violent. This is nightmare fuel.
