Watched this on a friend’s request as it keeps coming up in our conversations. Not what I expected, on many levels!

What a mess?? What was this and what convinced so many recognizable actors to sign up. Honestly—based on the production quality and cast alone this should have been, at minimum, an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half. But bizarre directing choices like extending each frame into meaningless over-tension and then repeating motifs ad nauseum made what little crumbs this story was trying to tell dissolve into nothing.

I had the chance to take my partner to this film in 2025 because they rereleased it in IMAX. When I tell you this film was literally made for IMAX, obviously that's true but I mean it is TRUE true.

I thought I cared about this film before, having watched it at home on our admittedly very large TV. It's an entirely different experience when the screen size consumes you and Hans Zimmer's score vibrates your seat in the dark.

If you get the chance to see this film as it is meant to be seen on the largest screen, do it.

Saw this in the theater again in 2024 for the 15th anniversary rerelease. I still think this movie rocks.
