A classic action film that deserves its place among the great macho blockbusters of the 80s. The film plays out with John McClane (barefoot) barely keeping it together as he desperately scrambles to deescalate the terrorist threat, and despite being an absurd scenario, the film does a great job of making you feel the tension. With two great performances going head to head in Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman as iconic character terrorist leader Hans Gruber, the film keeps you on the edge of your seat with anticipation for their next encounter. It’s a Christmas movie.
The latest film from animation powerhouse Pixar is a reminder of the magic that’s kept them at the top of their game for over two decades. This is a film about finding your purpose and how your purpose and passion may not be one in the same, but it’s easy to confuse the two. The film is surprisingly abstract in terms of visuals, themes, and even some of the score. The existential themes may make the film one of Pixar’s less accessible outings, but Soul has a message that applies to everyone.
