there's lots of movies revolving around the endless cycle of violence in places like the city of god, but only very few I've seen manage to tell their stories as well as this one.
the acting in this was amazing. i've read they cast mostly people from the favelas - not (only) for authenticity, but mostly because they couldn't find any black brazilian actors in 2000... watch the movie and you'll know why, these kids had (probably have) other things…
