    Satire didn’t feel grounded or specific enough to matter. Great needle drops and rave scene. Ultimately, felt that the film was more interesting as an academic exercise than interesting on its own. Could have done with more eroticism and more thriller.

    This is a hard one. Brody is phenomenal and so are Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce. I found the first half entertaining and compelling enough, but ultimately left dissatisfied. 

    To me, the 2nd half feels like “epic cosplay” — intending to be monumental and insistent about its own largeness, but ultimately delivering a shallow story more concerned with the metaphors of the film than the characters themselves.

    When the grip on the plot slackened, the movie began to feel cartoonish.…
