Goodfellas for early Hollywood. Characters were shallow. Having three perspective characters meant we could dodge really engaging with any of them. From other people’s perspectives; Conrad’s alcoholism is something that he is not hampered by, we do not see this competence when we view his life from within; Nelly is putting on a character when she is first introduced, a caricature of her sexuality and lack of refinement, but loses the ability to rise above this as the film…Translated from by

Need to rewatch. Did not resonate with me. Enjoyed the spectacle at points. First exposure to anything Mad Max. Not a fan of grotesque/body horror style. Well acted in as much as it was called for, no character stood out or was particularly deep; perhaps missing context from earlier films.
