An enlightening tale of a tragic figure stuck in an inescapable vacuum of abuse, robbed of her life’s work and demonized by the public. Though the presentation can be a bit offputting at times, the excellent cinematography and strong performances make this film more than the sum of its parts. Works surprisingly well as a “90s Zeitgeist” companion piece to American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson.

Best Worst Movie 2009
If you liked The Disaster Artist, you'll adore this film. A funny, touching, and oftentimes weirdly melancholic look back at one of the most infamously bad movies of all time. I highly recommend watching this back-to-back with its subject matter, the wonderful Troll 2.

Colossal 2016
A masterclass in synecdochal storytelling and my personal favourite film of 2017. Colossal is a film that not only subverts but gleefully smashes your expectations, weaving a deeply personal story about addiction, abuse, and power into what seems at first to be a silly genre flick. More people need to see this movie.
