    It's kinda weird to see a topical film so far past its best-by date.

    The first half— Tommy Lee Jones and Patricia Arquette as Gary Gilmore and Nicole Baker, in the build-up to the event— is brilliant. Both are spectacular. As is Christine Lahti as Brenda Nicol.
