I haven't laughed this hard in a long time, I think my neighbors might be worried about me now. Anyway, this is a total joy if you're at all into theatre, slapstick, chaos, and SARDINES!

You like Richard Wagner? His early work was a little too conventional for my taste. But when Rienzi premiered in '42, I think he really came into his own. The whole opera has a grand style that explores the importance of nationalism and strong leadership. He's been compared to Mozart, but I think Wagner is far more innovative and emotionally intense. In '74, Wagner completed this: The Ring of the Nibelung, his most accomplished work, in which death is the…

Really drills down into the idea of a midlife crisis, whew.
The main character, man, I just didn't vibe with him.
But at least this has Dehd on the soundtrack! What a nice surprise. That's at least a half-star just for that alone. Go listen to Dehd, everyone.
The fillet of dysfunctional family movies.
Listen to the sounds of Winnipeg
The white breathing of a nocturnal city in the sad, sad worldIf you're sad and like beer, I'm your lady
Winnipeg has been chosen four years in a row by The London Times as the world's capital of sorrow
- Venetian Snares - Winnipeg Is A Frozen Shithole
It's a song by a Winnipegger who made it, and an entire album of the same name, as a tribute to his hometown. Listen to…
This has a good motherfuckin' premise: you gotta have one last party with your bitch before you ditch her, maybe give her one last fuckin' foot massage, you know what I'm sayin'? But man, they had to fuck this shit up with meta “jokes” and Kierkegaard references and repetition and shit. And there's no fuckin' depth to it, nothing to explain this relationship or why they splittin' ways. Not much of this shit is funny, interesting, or relatable. These motherfuckers…
I found lots to love about this dark, nihilistic yet funny film, carried masterfully by David Thewlis in the main role of a complex, despicable and charming character: the odyssey through London at night, the random encounters, the philosophizing that leaves the audience with a lot to ponder about.
However, the main thought that has stayed in my mind after watching Naked was this: I'd really enjoy a sequel with the exasperated nurse Sandra and Johnny stuck together for whatever reason. Loved their dynamic.
I watched this while sleep-deprived, exhausted, and with a bit of a cold. A nap was in the cards, I figured, even though I chose the 4th row in front of the largest screen I could find in my city. For the first half-hour, my poor underslept brain wanted to reject this as 'AAAAH WHY IS THIS SO LOUD'.
But this movie is so good that it healed me and led me to PARADISE. After the first 40 minutes, I…

Gotta love Chekhov's Mud Bath. In hindsight, feels like I should have expected it but somehow got caught offguard anyway.
Loved this. A better, warmer, more personal take on what The Square was doing, with an interesting main character and lots of humour that didn't feel smug or forced. Have to admit that I found Matthias kinda uncomfortably relatable at certain points, lol. I still have to digest this one but definitely one of the month's highlights for me.
funny and cute, brilliantly acted, but the ending lowkey ruined it for me
