Another Lynch film I enjoyed way more the second time around. The section of the film before the transformation of Fred in the jail scene represents what actually happened. His paranoia, dysfunctional marriage, suspicions of cheating, and ultimately murder of his wife. Kidnapping, Caucasian Style 1967
Weird comedy movie, a lot of it felt disjointed. The main character is an ethnographer who comes to the caucuses for research and gets wound up in some local scheme. I couldn’t tell how much of the movie was making jokes about real cultural occurrences in the caucuses and how much of it is just racist. Early on a marriage is being negotiated between some official and the uncle of a young woman, the price being sheep. There are Soviet 3 stooges in this movie however, so it is not all bad.
