Not my favorite Oz Perkins, but I love this as an addition to his catalog. Some of the cgi was really bad, but there were also some really great, inventive kills. Most of the humor worked really well for me, I just didn’t care for the stuff between the brothers or between Hal and his son. Tatianna Maslany was terrific as the mom, and the scenes with her were the only moments of earnestness that should’ve been in the film.

Just a bit long, like all his movies, and I don’t think all of the camera tricks in the tennis sequences work, but it was sharp, compelling and sexy. The actor who played Patrick was particularly impressive. Maybe I need to finally watch God’s Own Country next.

I love stop motion animation so much. It’s very soothing to me for some reason. Maybe because I used to watch a lot of Gumby as a kid? Dunno, but I loved this. The character design is real weird and neat, and the music adds to the off-kilter feel of the story.

A psychedelic revenge picture with a sick score & bravura performances by Nic Cage & Linus Roache. It’ll be too slow for general audiences, but I enjoyed the crap out of it even before Nic Cage got to go buck wild. It looked really lovely on a big screen, but if you go that route you might want to treat yourself to an edible. They showed so many damn trailers that I was not the least bit stoned by the time the feature started.
