  This could have been so great. It started off very strong, with some solid acting, production design, and cinematography; but somewhere around the midpoint it gives up on trying to develop the ideas and just devolves into a mess of over the top body horror effects and excessive gore. I don't mind gore, and I will say the effects are pretty spectacular, but it starts to become gratuitous and silly. I also think, which no one else seems to be…

  This film is to middle class suburbia what Gummo is to poverty stricken middle America. It's a wacky, over the top satire that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. The bit with one of the fathers endlessly unloading handfuls of change from his pocket killed me. The novelty wears of a little before the end, but it's still a fun little parody of the empty lives of white middle class suburban families.

  This one was just not good at all. It has a promising premise, the old mansion setting is spooky, and Linda Blair is charming, but that's really all it has going for it. The spooky moments and kills are pretty boring, and I found myself losing focus and interest pretty quickly.
