if you're going to just recycle the plot of the original for the sequel, you need to do something that expands and enriches the universe of your story, and this one just didn't hit that mark. So much of the charm of the first movie was the setting and building this rich inner world with clever concepts like the stream of consciousness, train of though, etc, and that just didn't come through for me.

do you remember that episode of Parks & Rec where Will Forte chains himself to a bench in Leslie's office because he wants to put the Twilight books in the time capsule? I get it. We should lock this movie in a vault underneath the Arctic to preserve for future generations. Make it mandatory viewing. Send it to space so the aliens can see it too. It is genuinely so funny and the cinematography is whack and the performances are crazy. A perfect trainwreck of a masterpiece
