What I specially love about this film (aside from all the Perfect Blue references because thatโs easily one of the most epic animated films of all time) is the way mirrors are a key visual motif and symbolize several themes, particularly identity, duality, and self-reflection. Throughout the film, mirrors often appear during critical moments of Ninaโs psychological breakdown and transformation, emphasizing the complexity of her characterโs journey.

This is such a dreamy bittersweet depressing story. It physically hurts me to think there's actual so-called parents out there who diminish their children's light in order to preserve their looney ideas. Let's pray for a world where these types of parents remain as a long lost myth.
